So many things have happened, and I can honestly say most of the good stuff happened because of you. Thank you for bringing me back to the site which shall not be named. Sure, it didn't work out for us there, but you helped me make the greatest group of friends. Aside from that, I got to know you-- this is something I'll always treasure. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season. Love, Jen Cher, this has been one of the wildest years of my life! The death penalty is certainly not a deterrent, and it actually costs more to execute a perpetrator, given all the appeals, etc., than it does to house them for the rest of their natural life. Well stated, Pagun. Pagun,

Have we learned nothing from America's military debacles in Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan? There is a very fine line between "saving the world for democracy" and becoming a militaristic, aggressor nation. I fear we may have crossed that line already. Judie,

I think it's time that America stay out of other people's business and start taking care of its own people. I hope that the soldiers who are coming home are treated better that the Viet Nam vets, in that other war that we never should have gotten into. I am filled with disgust with people like John McCain, who felt we should have stayed in a country that doesn't want us there. His disdainful words about Obama spoke volumes about his own character. It was his party that got us into that shameful war, and God help us if they come into power in the next election. Comment on Ron Paul : The Likeable Nut Job From Texas by David K. Sutton http://askcherlock.com/2011/12/ron-paul-the-likeable-nut-job-from-texas/comment-page-1/#comment-105913 David K. Sutton Sun, 18 Dec 2011 18:59:56 +0000 http://askcherlock.com/?p=12289#comment-105913 I agree with all your points. I too like Ron Paul because he opposed Iraq and he has opposed the police state that has arisen in this country after 9/11. He's been consistent on those points and consistent on other points in which I don't agree, like dismantling programs that "promote the general welfare". In all cases it's his unflappable libertarian ideology that is responsible for his positions. I feel like on issues of national security and domestic security that liberals and libertarians can many times agree on numerous issues but as soon as you turn your attention to government programs that keep millions out of poverty or from falling further into financial destitute - that is where we part ways.
