The results of the so-called “Arab Spring” have permanently changed the landscape of Middle-Eastern politics, and it’s not over yet. There is little doubt that popular uprisings will continue in Syria and Yemen, and will undoubtedly spread to other places, such as Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. While most of the long-suffering population of North Korea went hungry, and while they were sitting in the dark in their government provided, barracks-style apartments, ailing dictator Kim Jong-Il threw a giant party for the country’s elite. The celebrations included a massive military parade, intended to show off North Korea’s latest weaponry (primarily Russian made), and lots of goose-stepping soldiers, dressed up in their finest uniforms. “Let the games begin” was the rallying cry made four days ago by top U.S. and South Korean military commanders, as the two nations engaged in high publicized, joint military exercises along Korea’s east coast.
