Eva Cassidy was perhaps one of the finest singer/songwriters to have graced this earth. Alas, she was gone too soon. Though I am not Jewish, I learned the term “mashugana” at a restaurant in Pittsburgh called Gullifty’s, where they make a great dish by that name. It starts with potato pancakes on the bottom, then a layer of hot corned beef, topped with coleslaw and Russian dressing. Mmmwaw! (She blows a kiss to the Chef.) Delicious! I asked the waitress what “mashugana” meant and she said it means “all mixed up, or crazy.” If that translation is not right, please feel free to correct me. I just like the word …
