Over the last week the U.S. military officially pulled out of Iraq after almost ten years of war and occupation. The last of the remaining combat troops and equipment were moved across the border to Kuwait, and loaded on board vessels for the trip home to America. The forty-two year dictatorship of Moammar Gadhafi finally came to an end, as opposition forces fanned out across Tripoli today to eliminate last remnants of the old regime. The street scenes of wild celebration, however, have given way to a more somber assessment that Gadhafi and his family may have escaped the harsh judgement that almost surely awaited them.
