Last Tuesday’s Republican primary in the State of Indiana represented a sad day for America, and yet another step forward for the ultra-conservative Tea Party movement.  Richard Lugar, a thirty-six year veteran of Congress, known as being one of the last  remaining moderate Republicans in the Senate, was soundly defeated by Tea-Party backed candidate Richard Mourdock.  Ironically, the political virtues …

Shake Off Those Blues and Dance!

I love to dance and love watching great dances. I also love music which is often my panacea for curing everything except the flu, well…that and the economy. So I am posting a terrific video here that I hope you will enjoy as much as I do.

al-Maliki of Iraq Makes a Pact With The Devil

Seven months ago, in March of 2010, the people of Iraq held their first national election since Nouri al-Maliki took office as Prime Minister in 2006.  As expected, the results of the 2010 election failed to produce a clear winner,  with no candidate capturing enough seats to form a new government.  In fact, al-Maliki actually lost the popular …

Our Broken Schools: Who Is To Blame?

Parents, buck up and do your job. Schools were never meant to be baby-sitters for your kids. If two parents need to work to get by, get responsible. Enlist family members or friends to be home with your children if you are working. With computers now in almost every home, check the emails teachers send to you regarding your child’s progress. Get involved in your kid’s lives. Once you brought that child into this world, it was in your job description to be engaged in their education.

Middle Class Must Say “No” to Republican Candidates

It is not hard to believe that the Party of “No” struck again on Tuesday, voting down a bill that would have encouraged U.S. companies with foreign operations to bring back jobs from overseas. As usual, the Republicans have decided to put corporate profits ahead of helping America’s beleaguered middle class. In a nutshell, the bill …

I Was An Investigator. No, Really!

Mr. Tawdry opened the door to earthy brunette investigator. We were standing in the kitchen. I kept my back near the door in case I had to make a quick exit. Scan the room. Okay, he’s wearing a dirty wife-beater shirt and baggy jeans. Kitchen table was full of mostly empty bottles of booze and mixers and he was swaying more than a bit. Girlfriend could be seen sitting, well more like slumping, in the living room just beyond the kitchen.

An Autumn Wind Came Blowin’ In

I was in the office on our second floor and noticed that the sky had suddenly grown dim and ominous. I was in the midst of working on something, scurrying to get it on the blog, when I realized this was more than just a bit of a storm. I grabbed the camera and began taking shots from the office window.

Murkowski : An (ex)Republican With Courage

Image via Wikipedia

It has turned out to be a wonderful day in the great state of Alaska.  Moderate, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski announced that she would not allow her bid for another term as senator to be derailed by the Tea Party activists.  Murkowski recently lost her primary race to ultra-conservative, right-winger Joe Miller in a strange election that seemed …

At Sixes and Sevens

My own thoughts meander between past and present, trying to make sense of the in-between and how it fits with the here and now. This feeling of uncertainty at this time in my life is disconcerting. The activist who resides in a recess of my mind is weary. I have never witnessed such anger, resentment, hostility and fear. What did we change back in the day? The part of me which can still speak answers, Absolutely nothing.

Forbes Magazine : Another Conservative Tabloid?

Over the course of America’s political history there have always been “voices”  from the fringe elements that have tried to get their radical opinions to be heard.   Certainly, over the last sixty years or so, with the advent and rapid expansion of the mass media, many radical thinkers and fringe groups have been able to get their messages …
