Sarah Palin: Lest We Forget

Submitted by on June 8, 2010 – 12:54 pm8 Comments | 0 views

Lest we ever forget Sarah Palin’s mantra of “Drill, baby, drill!” Remember how she had become the darling of Right-wing conservatives? We now know after the horrendous impact of the Gulf oil spill that off-shore drilling is not a viable option. How quickly the tide turns when the truth of the ecological dangers  in off-shore drilling are actually seen.  Millions of people will be impacted by this oil spill for many years to come, but even the plankton that feeds our oceanic life is now endangered. Some of the chemical dispersants which are already banned in the UK are toxins, the effects of which will be seen in staggering terms as this oil gushes on. Watch unemployment rates go up, not to mention gas prices.  The life of people who live in the Gulf region will be changed in many ways forever. Sarah Palin, why are you now so quiet?

  • Carpetbagger says:

She not that quiet. She’s blamming “environmentalists” for “making” them drill out there, instead of in shallow waters and Danali Natl Park. Because they would never spill there. (And even though two years ago she and Charles Krauthammer were screaming to drill the outer Cont. shelf because “that’s where 3/5 of the world’s oil is.”

They do realize that their microphones are open and that independent voters on the sidelines are listening, right?

    Bagger,
I am not sure what Palin realizes. I understand that she has built a fence around her house. Perhaps she should have built it to keep herself in, rather than to keep others out. Sorry, took some thoughts from Robert Frost about “Fences.”

  • bluzdude says:

Bagger kind of beat me to it, but if she’s quiet, it’s because she’s busy backtracking from her statements on oil drilling, and trying to find a way to blame it all on Obama.

And I agree… the Palin Fence should have a lock on the OUTSIDE.

  • admin says:

    bluz,
    I hear ya!

  • Harrison says:

One interesting note regarding oil exploration and spills is that Exxon wanted to build an oil pipeline to transport crude from its source in Alaska to the lower 48. Democrats and environmentalists opposed such a thing. The pipeline was not approved. Because the pipeline was cancelled, it terminated in Valdez, Alaska. You can guess what happened, there as a result.

  • KAK says:

Our girl has been busy demonstrating her political prowess by lending her endorsements to Republican candidates with already huge leads. Thank god the bulk of the nation already realizes this woman is an idiot.

  • admin says:

    Harrison,
Whether the pipeline was approved or not, it all comes down to politics. The Exxon Valdez spill happened because the Valdez hit a reef. While terrible and spilling more than 10 million gallons of oil into the water, it does not come close to the calamitous nature of this spill, primarily due to negligence on the part of BP and the pay-off of some investigators to overlook poorly maintained equipment.

  • admin says:

    KAK,
Yes, I do think the glow of Sarah Palin has dimmed. Those who are using her to help in their campaigns are doing themselves in. Pure folly.
