There really is no guide book for being a parent, a mother, a guiding force. Moms make mistakes because…there are no Cliff Notes for this role. We can adopt some of our own mothers’ ways and discard what seemed to go awry. For me regarding my mother, I learned to forgive those mistakes as I got older, and focused on …

Angels Among Us?

Submitted by on June 17, 2010 – 5:39 pm16 Comments | 2 views

I do believe in angels and perhaps no song exemplifies it more than this one by Sarah McLachlan.  So if you are in need of one, listen to this lovely song and if you feel a warmth around you, it just may be that an angel has been placed to comfort you.

    Dear Cher,
An angelic song, indeed. Thanks for posting it up. The angel of contentment sits on my shoulder and tells me that I should embrace all the positive possibilities that are there for the taking. I am grateful for this knowledge and wisdom.
With respect and kindness, your way, Gary

That is a beautiful song, it woke me to the music of Sarah McLachlan about two years ago……I sometimes wonder if there is an angel sitting on my shoulder in close calls on my motorcycle……I do not know if it is a good thing to say that I now feel comfortable on a bike sliding sideways.

    Gary,
Thanks so much for sharing your positive sentiments.

    Best–

    KAK,
You are riding sideways on your motorcycle? I will need to storm the heavens and ask that you get an extra angel! :)

I believe in dogs. Last night Rod and I got into a minor pissing contest. He was determined to read, and I wanted the light off. I grabbed my pillow and went to the living room sofa. Our dog took sides, and snuggled in with me. After all the lights were off, we went back to bed. She placed herself as close to me as she could get. In the morning, all was forgiven, but she was still on my side!!

    Judie,
That is the best story! Dogs are simply amazing. She probably sensed you were upset and gave you comfort. How cool is that?

One day a few years ago, I was walking my Maltese before going to work. It was s snowy winter morning and still dark. Somehow I slipped on some ice and fell hard. She stood over me and her eyes were as big a saucers. She looked concerned, more than fearful. I had broken my elbow and all during my recuperating time, she snuggled with me. Yes, they could be angels in disguise.

  • angels are among us always. all we have to do is acknowledge them and be grateful for them.

I may not believe in angels, but I certainly believe in the inherent goodness of dogs.

    RE,
I do believe angels dwell among us and you are right in that we need to discern what our purpose is in life and if our purpose is a good one, I think they enable us to carry it through.

    Bluz,
I do think most dogs are good, but their nature is determined by those who raise them. I’m not so certain that pit bulls, for example, can overcome their inherent nature.

That song always brings tears to my eyes. We are thinking of getting another dog, one from the shelter. We had a Maltese who lived to be 16. Precious is 13 now, and we got her when Watson was around 10. Dogs are such a comfort.

    Hi Judie,
I have always loved this song too. You are so right about dogs. They give such unconditional love and really are a comfort.

  • KAK says:

Cher, Thanks for wishing me an extra angel when I do stupid and irresponsible things on my bike. I was using your Sarah McLachlan post just to talk about my motorcycle. Hopefully I wont hurt anyone else when my luck runs out except for taxpayers pockets paying the tab to scrape me off the road…..The fact is I dont work and have no health insurance.

So love this tune Cher….Sarah M has written many, many inspirational songs in her career ~
This song in particular brings to mind a movie with Meg Ryan & Nicholas Cage called ‘City of Angels’ One of my top 10 movies.

A very effective choice in songs…if we all believe there is an angel out there for all of us…how could we not have hope..and hope is what is vital for our ability to keep moving forward in these days of demise and uncertainty.

    Huggzzzz sweet Cher~

    KAK,
I will now wish you an extra angel! Please stay safe —and wear a helmet! :)

  • admin says:

    Dorothy,
You have such a gentle spirit and a kind soul, so I can see you liking this song. Thank you for your words of wisdom and hope.

    Huggzzz to you, my friend
