Blue sky, soft shadows and trees in early October. The season of change is upon us in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am ready to greet a new passage, life-changes which may come, and the shadows of the past which teach us to learn from our environment of nature and to treasure it.

I have been thinking lately about how disconnected I have gotten from the natural world, something I definitely need to work on.
It brings to mind a quotation from Carl Jung, one that fills me with an inexpressible sadness and a renewed purpose at the same time: “No voices now speak to man from stones, plants and animals, nor does he speak to them believing they can hear. His contact with nature has gone, and with it the profound emotional energy that this connection supplied.”
