AN EVIL TRIUMVIRATE
It is a new axis of evil, this triumvirate, consisting of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Representative Joe Wilson. They are demagogues, all. Truth has no place in their repertoire and their only seeming goal is that of disseminating false information in egomaniac self-promotion.
Palin pontificates about the non-existent “death panels” in Obama‘s proposed Health Care Reform legislation. Her outrageous claim that end-of-life counseling would entail pulling the plug on terminally ill patients and the elderly is ludicrous. It would have involved counsel on hospice care, living wills and matters of quality of considerations through information. It matters not to her that most of us will be faced with these decisions either for our families or ourselves. But scare tactics must work because her frenzied, ill-informed statements rankled so many that bipartisan negotiators on the Senate Finance Committee agreed to drop the end-of-life provision.
Then we have the inimitable Rush Limbaugh who described President Obama’s speech on Health Care Reform as “disgusting, reprehensible and predictable.” Like a rabid dog, Limbaugh bites at every statement made by the President as though El Rushbo alone has the answers to the many issues facing this country. Perhaps he should put himself through the rigors of running for office. I must wonder whether he would address FBI Agent Harry Samit who had attempted to warn his superiors that Moussaoui and Al-Attas were planning what turned out to be the attack on 9/11. He was thwarted with arguments of obstruction and the information was lost to our country. Since this was the Bush administration, no doubt old Rush would have rationalized what turned out to be a real death panel.
Last but not least we have Representative Joe-no-decorum Wilson. “You lie!”, he screamed at the President during his address. When Republicans turned scarlet and Democrats seethed with righteous indignation, Wilson gave a paltry apology. Let’s bitch-slap this man into reality. Wilson called the President a liar when the President claimed that illegal immigrants won’t be covered under HCR. Fortunately Politifact’s Bill Adair “fact-checked the heckler” and said that Wilson’s statement was false.
According to Adair, “the bill goes to some lengths to make sure that illegal immigrants do not get the credits for the health care exchange that would allow them to get free care. They’d have to pay for it, like everybody else. False for Wilson.” The singular consolation here is that Wilson’s opponent for his up-coming election has raised over $400,000 since Wilson’s outburst. Kudos to the contributors.
That this triumvirate is given any credence whatsoever is frightening. These people do not serve the interests of this country. They serve only self-aggrandizement. The Quitter, the Addict and the Disrespectful Congressman have evil voices which are allowed to be heard but can be tuned out. Put them in the wilderness where they belong.

Cher: I respect your views, I’ve never been a Rush fan, because during the Bush years his attacks were on Democrats, he never saw the wrongs that Bush did, especially in the loss of jobs and industries escaping to China for cheaper labor. Millions of Americans are out of work, because their jobs escaped abroad, thanks to these gatekeepers, Rush and Hannity.
However, I disagree on this health issue with you, and Joe Wilson, is right to a certain extent.
Do we taxpayers want to pay for illegal immigrants’ medical expenses? Democrats removed safeguarding provisions from the prior bill to prevent this stuff from happening.
The problem I have with undocumented aliens using public healthcare, it will open the floodgates, it will be like bells ringing during a shark feeding frenzy for more undocumented coming here for our FREE healthcare. Do you think that we can afford and support all of these costs? Would you be willing to pay more in taxes for it?
Nice discussion points in your post.
Best wishes,
Marc

Marc,
I have much respect for you and for your opinions. You and I can have a dialogue with civility. That is the missing character trait in the above named Triumvirate.
What the public needs to be aware of is that since the implementation of Welfare Reform more than ten years ago, illegal immigrants do get Medicaid which is currently being paid for by our tax dollars. Prior to Welfare Reform, applicants needed to document their citizenship or their alien status. Once Welfare lifted that criteria, the floodgates did indeed open. Many citizens are just not aware of it.
As I understand it, H.R. 3200 would extend Medicaid and that could mean that more illegal immigrants would be eligible. Obama’s proposed reforms do not apply to those here illegally, but it’s a Catch22. They may qualify for Welfare in the form of Medicaid. Wilson was wrong to say Obama lied, but possibly right about illegals getting health care. Two different entities are involved here.
My harsh criticism of Wilson is due to his total affront to the President and his lack of respect for his position as Congressman. Decorum under that setting is a must. He was a disgrace.
As always, Marc, my best to you.

Not only they seem evil, but also quite unsophisticated. The Republicans do not seem to have a viable leader, since probably the last conservative of note, William Buckley has died.
They also seem to lack class in spades, as portrayed by all of the three portrayed above + Newt.
[Translate]
Politicus,
You are entirely right about Buckley. He did have class and I was fascinated by him. He was remarkable with discourse, an art which has been lost on the Republicans.
And yes, let’s include Newt in this mix. Just when I think he may have something of note to say, he gets sour and off-key again. Then, of course, they have Michael Steele and John Boehner. Is it any wonder the Right leans on Rush?

So if “Palin pontificates about the non-existent ‘death panels’ in Obama’s proposed Health Care Reform legislation” why did the Democrats pull the language from the bill?

Thank you for making complete sense and saying what needs to be said by our leaders of this country!!
This country is more divided than it’s ever been in my lifetime. I’m sure crazy people lived back 50 years ago as well, but today with the internet and radio and TV, these crazies have access to an audience, and a big one at that.
I hate to say it, but there are a lot of ignorant, gullible and desperate people that the Evil Triumvirate can appeal to. Let’s just hope that intelligent people on both sides of the fence understand what’s really going on.
My question is: After eight years of complete destruction to this country, how can there even be an audience left for these idiots?
[Translate]
@marc chamot We already pay for illegal immigrants’ health care. Just ask anyone in California, which is why they are all about reimbursement rather than restrictions. Part of what health care reform will do is make it harder for illegal immigrants to get access to public or private insurance schemes (just how much harder IS a legitimate point of difference between some Democrats and some Republicans) but no doctor will refuse to treat an obviously sick patient who walks into an emergency room.
@cher I agree with your sentiments about knotheads like Palin, Limbaugh and Wilson. But I am also beginning to think that these people thrive on the theory that any publicity, good or bad, is good publicity. Palin and Wilson will slide into well-deserved obscurity sooner than either would like to think. Rush is a fact of life. What the left needs is the commitment and passion of his faithful dittoheads. A figure to rally around wouldn’t hurt either.

Harrison,
The language was pulled because the message was corrupted by blatant lies and scare tactics.

Bring Back Pluto,
Your question is a good one. How can there be an audience left for these people? Too often many individuals, I believe, get what passes as information from sound bites and hysterical rhetoric. We have lost the fine art of reading, in depth reading. Because of this instant gratification in society, people do not take the time to actually read proposals, study them and draw their own conclusions. They spoon-feed themselves rhetoric rather than intellect. I dread where this is going.
[Translate]
Windroot,
I agree that we need a figure to rally round. That should be President Obama. I would hope that he brings back the verve he had on the campaign trail and reignites this country to the belief that change can be good and will help to build a stronger society for us all.

“The language was pulled because the message was corrupted by blatant lies and scare tactics.”
Was it? So do people roll over and play dead when they are accused of something they didn’t do or do they defend themselves? I find it very interesting that this language was quickly and quietly removed from the bill. Obviously if there was no merit in what was being said Democrats would have stood up for it. So either there was merit and you’re wrong or the Democrats don’t have the spine to stand up for the truth.
Which is it?

Dorothy L,
Thank you, my dear friend. Sometimes the journey is arduous….
[Translate]
Harrison,
There really is nothing more I can say to you at this point, but it’s good that you weighed in.

Arduous is exactly how I feel after reading and catching your vibes from your posts at times.
Jeeesh….these can be very stressful not to mention confusing issues.
I was tempted to spike your coffee with a little JD
Huggzzzzzzzz ….

D,
You know, we are political junkies so it goes with the territory. Sometimes it can be stressful, but we actually enjoy it for all that it is. Whether we argee or disagree with comments, we love them all. We do attempt to be responsible in what we say, unlike some politicians!
Nevertheless, a spike in my coffee would be very good!
Huggzz, my dear D….

You might consider adding Glen Beck to the mix but that would change the “triumvirate”.
If you added a 4th, would it be considered a “quadrumvirate”?
[Translate]
bluzdude,
By all means, let’s do add Beck the scallywag! Regarding the “quadrumvirate, the way this list is expanding, we may need to coin a new word.
