It looks like Speaker of the House John Boehner is up to his old tricks again, threatening to block an increase in the federal debt limit ceiling without obtaining significant new cuts in spending.  There is little doubt that the last two years, which resulted in over $1.0  trillion per year in deficit spending, will bring the country close to …

Okay, Here Is a List Of My Gripes

Submitted by on March 14, 2009 – 11:11 am15 Comments | 0 views

1. People who block the aisle in supermarkets with their carts—even after you have said, “Excuse me, please.”

2. Drivers in the passing lane who drive under the speed limit.

3. Cell phone use in theaters. Get a grip!

4. The use of the word “issues.” If you have them, and don’t we all, find another word.

5. Rush Limbaugh. ’nuff said.

6. People who form political opinions without any thought or information. Gut reactions don’t cut it.

7. Plastic wrap that you can’t get off the roll to cover a dish. Where is the freaking end?

8. Commercials for ‘feminine products.’

9. Did I mention Rush Limbaugh?

10. Teeth. Poor design, God. They always have problems.

11. Spiral notebooks. All those little white pieces that fall like confetti when you tear out a page.

12. Finding the right USB port for my printer. Which one is it? Why are there so many USB ports, anyway?

13. Junk mail that clogs up my mailbox and then the trash can.

14. Men who call me “Honey” when they don’t know me.

15. Hair stylists who always cut too much and never get it right.

16. My increasing dependence on Post-its.

17. Ann Coulter, bulimic journalism.

There are more, so you can be sure there will be a part two. Have a great day!

Ha Ha Ha!! Great minds think alike. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but I envision Rush Limbaugh blowing up and exploding from all that hot air that gets trapped inside him between broadcasts. I guess that’s what all the excess pain meds are for, though. I hate that blowhard.

  • Rick says:

Dammit I want to subscribe to your blog but I don’t see a subscribe button for either email or Feedburner. Help me out!

  • admin says:

    Dear Rick,
You made my day. Together we stand against the rush of limbaugh. He doesn’t deserve caps!

I have had folks link here through the publisher which is Word Press. I’ll see if I can get back to you with more info.

Rick, you have such a cool blog so I am giving our readers your address:
    http://ricksworld411.blogspot.com

Check out his writing. I think you will enjoy!

  • Bob says:

I think we must both be perfectionists while denying that the word has any meaning. You’re nearer than me – where gan i get to see this Lush Windbag or whatever ‘is name is. I know I shall join the ranks of his haters. OK so I’m a masochistic perfectionist – he is obviously on youtube, but are there longer videos showing this ghastly verminous creep?

  • John Swift says:

    Dear Cherlock,

Like Rick, I just can’t get over your leftist wisdom. Please keep showing us the truth. I am so glad that you did not include any of the following gripes that the right wing, Rush loving, capitalist, boursoise, swine might write such as:

    1) You can’t get an Obama nomination unless you first commit tax fraude

    2) The “stimulus” bill is all pork barrel spending that doesn’t take effect in time to do any good.

    3) Obama who said he would eliminate earmarks, signed 480 Billion worth of them.

    4) There are thousands of Liberals in the media but only two of media’s three conservatives got your scorn. You’re going to hurt Hannity’s feelings.

    5) Conservative viewpoints atually make sense when you account for human nature..

  • admin says:

    Dear Bob,
Since you are my friend, I am reluctant to have you suffer through more of “Lush Windbag” (love it!) but since we are both fans of The Huffington Post, I believe you will find some lengthy clips there if you search. Perhaps you may consider wearing a gas mask.

I suppose you are correct when you say that I am a perfectionist. Sometimes, though, it is the little things in life that can drive one bonkers! Patience…I need to work on being more patient. It may be too late, I’m afraid, though I will not suffer fools like Limbaugh gladly.

  • admin says:

    Dear John,
The terrible reality is that bills will never get passed without some pork or earmarks, regardless of which side of the aisle generates them. Republicans added pork as well as Democrats. That was the price to be paid in order to get it through. Such is Washington politics.

Actually, I did forget to include Hannity, but I consider him a Rush-wannabe, ratings-grabber.

As to your first comment about tax fraud, it is bit of an over-reach though I do have concerns about Geithner and his abilities. I hope I am proved wrong.

Please expound on your last statement regarding Conservatives and human nature. Does that include shuffling poor children off to orphanages as Newt once suggested? Does it include torture of prisoners without the right to habeas corpus? Is it human nature to be exonerated of crimes and unanswered subpoenas in the fashion of Karl Rove?

  • John Swift says:

    Dear Cherlock,

Already some of the terrorists released from Gitmo have rejoined terrorist organizations and are plotting to kill Americans. To let them go so they can kill us is just plain stupid. The blood of the Americans killed will be on Obama’s hands.

It is a rough and nasty world… full of nasty characters. The information that they have will help save America lives. It may be a nice to treat those kindly who will savagely murder us, but nice guys finish last. We must be tough enough to rise to the challenge.

Human nature is such that Socialism is a dismal failure. When Obama taxes those who work and gives it to those who don’t, the result is the economy tanks. No one will work hard, innovate and take economic risks so Obama can give his money to whomever Obama considers needy.

Karl Rove is right. The Consitution set up three equal segments of government. To let the Executive branch be subservient to the Legislative one would be a big mistake. ALL Presidents have thus invoked Executive Privelege. Obama will do it also when it becomes necessary

  • admin says:

    Dear John,
While your points are astute and worth pondering, I’m afraid we will not agree on junking the right to habeas corpus. At what point, then, would our government not be able to capriciously invoke it on any of our own citizens? Remember Nixon and J. Edgar Hoover? Then there was the blatant right of wire-tapping and email-monitoring by W. We do have checks and balances for a reason.

I do not beieve Obama is at heart a socialist, but look at the ruination caused by corporate fat-cats, i.e. AIG, et al who are robbing the nation and partying with bonuses on your money and mine. A balance must be struck.

Karl Rove has his own set of rules for the expeditious rise to self-acclaim.

  • John Swift says:

    Dear Cherlock,

We can certainly disagree on Habeas Corpus. But you will have to forgive me for hoping that, when one of the terrorists is set free, it would be more just if he murders your family than mine. Will you then stand over the coffin of your child and say what a wonderful thing it is to set these thugs free?

  • admin says:

    Dear John,
You seem to be under the delusion that the only terrorists in the world are those who were set free from Gitmo. In actuality, they have cells in every nook and cranny of the world. It would have been my hope that the American justice system would have stood as a positive role model, rather than a reinforcement of the “ugly American” perception which it has had since we invaded Iraq—for WMD’s.

Diplomacy. Just a word, but put into action it may, in fact, save my child or yours from eventual doom. America can no longer strong-arm nations, nor should we. We need to be the very model of peace we seek.

  • Lucia Claire says:

    Dear Cherlock,

As an anti-war Democrat and Hillary supporter, my gripe is that Obama has declined to keep his promise to end the war. He is now talking about keeping 50,000 troops there with no definite end in sight. He would have never beat Hillary if he had said that during the campaign.

Despite the fact she is Obama’s Secretary of State, I hope she runs against him in 2012 if he fails to keep this crucial promise and bring all the troops home.

  • lisleman says:

    Like your blog
I probably agree with you on most things but I’m sure we would disagree on others topics.

I don’t understand how some people see things as black and white. The world and life are not that simple.

Big news today is this AIG greed. I would like to see the taxpayers get most of that bonus money back in this situation. We own most of the company. However, I would be against the Government trying to control bonuses in general.

I just wish people would try to think about things instead of quick conclusions.

Oh good thing you didn’t use “issues” in the title of post – I would have.

  • admin says:

    Dear lisleman,
Thanks so much for stopping by. We can agree that most things are not “black and white” but rather have layers of importance. AIG astounds me and I think the bonuses should be taxed to the max.

Sometimes I have to stop myself from using the word “issues.” We are all so used to saying it that we need to self-correct and find a new catch-word. Then we will get tired of that!

  • admin says:

    Dear Lucia,
If Obama fails to maintain his campaign assertions, and if Hillary were so inclined, perhaps she would run in 2012—-but I doubt it. I truly believe she is in the best possible position. given her experience and that she will serve the country well. We need a person of her caliber as Secretary of State in these tenuous times.
